Senior Bioinformatician - Genomics

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join their dynamic research team in Leeds . You will be responsible for analyzing complex genomic datasets, developing cutting-edge bioinformatics pipelines, and contributing to groundbreaking research in genomics and personalized medicine. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
• Perform in-depth analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data to identify disease-associated variants and mechanisms.
• Collaborate with researchers to design experiments and interpret sequencing data.
• Contribute to the development of novel analytical methods and algorithms.
• Ensure data integrity, quality control, and proper documentation of all analyses.
• Present findings to research teams and contribute to scientific publications.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics, with a focus on genomic data analysis .
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, R) and familiarity with command-line environments (Linux/Unix).
• Experience with standard bioinformatics tools and databases for variant calling, annotation, and pathway analysis.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and their application to biological data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
