About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join their innovative genomics research team in Birmingham . You will play a crucial role in analyzing large-scale genomic datasets to uncover novel insights into disease mechanisms and identify potential therapeutic targets. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust computational pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Perform sophisticated statistical analyses of large genomic datasets, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-Seq data.
- Identify and characterize genetic variants associated with diseases and clinical phenotypes.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists and clinicians to design studies and interpret results.
- Contribute to the development of novel algorithms and computational tools for genomic data analysis.
- Present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences, and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics or computational genomics, with a strong focus on analyzing large-scale datasets.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics software packages and databases.
- Hands-on experience with NGS data analysis, including variant calling, annotation, and differential gene expression analysis.
- Solid understanding of statistical genetics principles and machine learning techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment in our Birmingham facility.
