Senior Bioinformatician

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Bioinformatician to join their dynamic research division in Sunderland . This role is central to advancing our understanding of complex biological systems through the analysis of large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data. You will play a key part in designing and implementing computational pipelines, analyzing diverse biological datasets, and collaborating with experimental biologists to interpret results and generate actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain computational pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics.
• Perform in-depth statistical analysis and interpretation of large biological datasets to identify significant biological patterns and biomarkers.
• Collaborate closely with experimental biologists and clinicians to define research questions and translate them into computational analyses.
• Visualize complex biological data effectively for presentation to scientific audiences.
• Contribute to the design of experiments, advising on data collection strategies and computational feasibility.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and methodologies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics analysis and computational biology.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Strong experience in analyzing various types of NGS data (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq).
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and their application to biological data.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to explain complex computational concepts to biologists.
