Senior Biologist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Biologist to join their dedicated Drug Discovery team based in Bradford . This pivotal role involves leading research efforts to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets for a range of unmet medical needs. You will apply your deep understanding of biological pathways and disease mechanisms to design and execute experiments that advance drug candidates through the preclinical pipeline. This hybrid position offers the best of both worlds, combining critical on-site laboratory work with flexible remote analysis and reporting, within a collaborative environment that fosters scientific rigor and innovation. Key Responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments to assess drug efficacy and safety.
• Identify and validate novel drug targets through a combination of literature review and experimental investigation.
• Develop and optimize new biological assays relevant to disease pathways.
• Collaborate with chemists and other scientists to integrate biological data into drug design strategies.
• Manage research projects, mentor junior scientists, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to regulatory documentation and patent applications as needed.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in drug discovery research, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Proven expertise in cellular and molecular biology techniques, assay development, and data analysis.
• Experience with specific therapeutic areas relevant to the client's pipeline is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of drug development processes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
