About the Role
Our client, a leading NHS Trust in Bristol , is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to join their busy Pathology laboratory. This is a critical role responsible for performing a wide range of complex diagnostic tests, contributing to accurate patient diagnosis and treatment planning. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising junior staff, ensuring the highest standards of quality control, and contributing to the continuous improvement of laboratory services within the Trust. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex analytical procedures across various disciplines (e.g., Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology) accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise and train junior biomedical scientists and laboratory support staff, ensuring competency and adherence to protocols.
- Maintain and operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and routine maintenance.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programmes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, investigate discrepancies, and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Requirements
- BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent HCPC-approved qualification.
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Significant post-registration experience in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising junior staff and quality management systems.
- Excellent understanding of laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
