Senior Buyer - Capital Equipment

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with expertise in Capital Equipment procurement to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is critical for managing the acquisition of significant plant, machinery, and technological assets. You will be responsible for leading complex sourcing initiatives, negotiating high-value contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of essential equipment to support operational growth and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial negotiation skills, a deep understanding of capital expenditure processes, and a strategic approach to procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, from requirements definition to contract finalization.
• Conduct thorough market analysis and supplier evaluations for capital asset procurement.
• Negotiate complex contracts, including payment terms, warranties, and service agreements for high-value equipment.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment on capital expenditure projects.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery, quality, and post-installation support.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and risk mitigation in capital equipment sourcing.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Buyer or Buyer with a specialization in capital equipment procurement.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating large capital expenditure contracts.
• Strong understanding of procurement best practices, contract law, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess technical specifications.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
