About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Buyer to manage the procurement of capital equipment for their operations based in Reading . This critical role involves sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts for significant capital investments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with project timelines and technical specifications. You will work closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to secure the best outcomes for major equipment purchases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-value procurement within Berkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing and procurement process for capital equipment, from initial requirement definition to final delivery and installation.
- Conduct thorough market research and supplier evaluations for specialized capital goods.
- Negotiate complex contracts and pricing with major equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery, quality, and post-installation support.
- Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to define specifications and ensure procurement meets operational needs.
- Mitigate risks associated with capital expenditure procurement and ensure compliance with company policies.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior Buyer or Buyer, with a strong focus on capital equipment procurement.
- Proven track record in negotiating high-value contracts and achieving significant cost savings.
- Deep understanding of capital equipment markets, supply chains, and relevant contractual terms.
- Excellent analytical, financial acumen, and project management support skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
