About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to focus on Raw Materials for their manufacturing operations in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is critical for ensuring a consistent and cost-effective supply of essential raw materials. You will be responsible for developing strategic sourcing plans, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating favorable terms to support production targets. This hybrid position offers a blend of on-site collaboration and the flexibility to work remotely, contributing to a key function within the company's supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for key raw materials to ensure supply security and cost efficiency.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, building strong, long-term relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with raw material suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance, proactively addressing potential risks.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and quality control teams to align material requirements.
- Manage inventory levels in coordination with the supply chain team to optimize stock holding.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer , specifically with raw materials or commodities.
- Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Strong understanding of commodity markets and supply chain dynamics.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing office-based and remote tasks.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIPS) is a strong advantage.
