About the Role

Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Buyer to join their dedicated procurement team based in Southampton . In this vital role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement process for a range of strategic goods and services. You will leverage your expertise to identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate favourable terms with suppliers, and ensure the quality and timely delivery of materials essential to the company's operations. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage complex sourcing projects and build robust supplier relationships to support the company's growth and efficiency objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the procurement of designated goods and services, ensuring best value for money.
• Conduct thorough market analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess market trends.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable contract terms, and service level agreements.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary to ensure quality and delivery standards.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies and process improvements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing or buying role, with at least 2 years at a senior level.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing and negotiation.
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as CIPS are highly desirable.
