About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to enhance their purchasing function based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This pivotal role involves leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing complex supplier negotiations, and driving significant cost reductions across key procurement categories. You will play a vital role in shaping the company's supplier base and procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong commercial acumen, adept at managing high-value contracts and fostering long-term, mutually beneficial supplier relationships within the vibrant commercial landscape of Newcastle upon Tyne .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories.
• Lead complex negotiations with key suppliers to achieve optimal pricing and terms.
• Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage and mentor junior members of the purchasing team.
• Oversee the entire procurement process from requisition to payment.
• Ensure compliance with all procurement policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Buyer or Procurement Manager .
• Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing and complex contract negotiations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement platforms.
