About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and manage key supplier relationships from their office in Coventry . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for critical indirect and direct spend categories.
• Lead complex negotiations with major suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
• Oversee supplier performance management, conducting regular reviews and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business needs and forecasts.
• Manage risk within the supply base, ensuring business continuity and compliance.
• Mentor junior members of the purchasing team and contribute to best practice development.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (5+ years) in a strategic buying or purchasing role, with a strong track record in negotiation.
• Deep understanding of category management, supplier relationship management, and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in using procurement tools and systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for analysis and reporting.
• Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional projects.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable.
