About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Buyer to join their established purchasing department in Coventry, West Midlands . In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for strategic sourcing and managing key supplier relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. You will play a significant part in optimising the supply chain, driving down costs, and ensuring the quality of goods procured. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key categories of spend.
• Lead negotiations with major suppliers to secure favourable pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements.
• Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from requisition to payment, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Analyse market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
• Demonstrated success in negotiating complex contracts and managing significant supplier spend.
• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management principles, and risk assessment.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
