About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to lead procurement activities for their operations based in Coventry . This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex supply chains and driving cost savings. You will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, identifying new sourcing opportunities, and fostering strong supplier partnerships. This is a key position within the purchasing team, offering significant responsibility and the chance to influence the company's profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for key categories of spend.
• Lead negotiations with major suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
• Monitor market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities within the supply base.
• Manage supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee junior buyers and provide guidance on best procurement practices.

Requirements

• Significant experience (5+ years) as a Buyer or in a senior purchasing role.
• Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing and cost reduction initiatives.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Experience using ERP systems for procurement and inventory management.
