Senior Care Assistant – Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home
Location: Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home, Old Farm Road East, Sidcup, DA15 8AY. Contract: Permanent – Full Time. Hours: 44 hours per week, covering nights. Salary: £13.25 – £14.84 per hour, depending on experience. CQC rating: Good. Carehome.co.uk rating: 9.6/10.
Abbotsleigh Mews is a purpose‑built care home, welcoming those in need of nursing, residential and dementia care. Short stay, convalescence and palliative care are also available. The home is arranged into different houses for different types of care and is surrounded by beautiful landscaped grounds. Residents also have a choice of lounge and dining areas, a sensory room and activity rooms. A versatile activities programme helps residents maintain independence while ensuring they receive all necessary care and support.
Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day responsibility for running a unit.
- Supporting clinical duties, including supporting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and maintain accurate record keeping.
- Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, responsible for all shift handovers of the teams.
- Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported.
- Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses.
- Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties.
Qualifications
- Completed or working towards an NVQ3 in care. Support is available to complete the qualification if needed.
- Motivated, positive and possessing strong interpersonal skills, enjoying work in a close‑knit team.
- Pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home.
- Previous experience in the role with knowledge of its rewards and challenges.
