Senior Character Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Character Artist to join their dedicated team in Edinburgh . In this role, you will be responsible for creating stunning, high-fidelity character models that bring their game worlds to life. You will work closely with the art director, game designers, and animators to develop memorable characters, ensuring both artistic quality and technical performance. Key Responsibilities

• Model, sculpt, texture, and rig high-quality 3D characters for integration into game engines.
• Collaborate with the art director and character team to define and maintain character art style and quality.
• Ensure character models meet technical requirements for performance, polygon count, and texture memory.
• Work closely with animators to ensure characters are well-prepared for rigging and animation.
• Contribute to the development of character art pipelines and workflows.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to junior character artists.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Character Artist in the games industry.
• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character modeling, texturing, and sculpting skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, and Photoshop.
• Solid understanding of human anatomy, form, and proportion, as well as costume and prop design.
• Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
