Senior Character Artist

About the Role

Our client, a leading studio in Oxford , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Character Artist to bring their virtual worlds to life. You will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D character models, from initial concept to final implementation, ensuring they meet the artistic and technical requirements of our projects. This role demands exceptional artistry, a deep understanding of anatomy, and proficiency with industry-standard tools. You will collaborate closely with the art team to define character aesthetics and contribute to the visual identity of our games.

Key Responsibilities

• Model, sculpt, and texture high-fidelity 3D characters for games.
• Create realistic or stylized character designs based on concept art and art direction.
• Develop clean and efficient character topology and UV layouts for optimal performance and animation.
• Implement characters into game engines, working with animators and technical artists.
• Ensure character models meet technical requirements for polycount, texture resolution, and engine compatibility.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and techniques in character art and 3D modeling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Character Artist in the video game industry.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality character modeling, sculpting, and texturing skills.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, ZBrush, Blender) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter, Photoshop).
• Solid understanding of human and creature anatomy, form, and proportion.
• Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their asset pipelines.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively within a team in Oxford .
