About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team, focusing on process optimization . This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within the UK. You will play a critical role in analyzing, designing, and implementing improvements to chemical processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This role requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles and a passion for driving innovation in a remote-first environment, contributing to significant operational advancements for the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing chemical processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design and develop new process technologies and modifications, utilizing advanced simulation and modeling tools.
- Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials for proposed process changes.
- Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams, including operations, R&D, and safety personnel.
- Monitor process performance in real-time, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions to maintain optimal operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical process design, optimization, and scale-up.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
- Experience with environmental regulations and safety protocols in chemical manufacturing.
