Senior Chemical Engineer - Project Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Engineer with a strong background in project management to lead key initiatives. Based in Reading, Berkshire , this role offers a hybrid working model, blending on-site presence with remote flexibility. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of chemical engineering projects, from initial conception and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning. This is a critical role requiring strong technical leadership, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders effectively. You will play a vital role in delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards, contributing significantly to the company's growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage chemical engineering projects from initiation to closure, ensuring objectives are met.
• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
• Oversee the detailed design, procurement, and construction phases of projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
• Coordinate with internal departments, external contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for project-related challenges.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to project teams, fostering collaboration and problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical engineering, with at least 4 years in project management roles.
• Proven track record of successfully managing capital projects within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
