Senior Chemical Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of complex chemical processes, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and environmentally sound. You will take a lead role in project execution, from conceptualization through to implementation, working with a dedicated team to achieve ambitious operational goals. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of new chemical processes and modifications to existing ones.
• Perform detailed process calculations, simulations, and economic evaluations for proposed projects.
• Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and operational procedures.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies to ensure safety and compliance.
• Oversee the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of process plant projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to plant operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in chemical process design and project engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and CAD tools.
• Proven experience in leading process design packages and managing project deliverables.
• Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
