Senior Chemical Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their dynamic team in Aberdeen . This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and optimizing chemical processes for a variety of industrial applications. You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance of our operations, contributing directly to the company's innovative edge. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical understanding combined with practical, hands-on experience in process design and troubleshooting, working collaboratively within a project-oriented environment that values technical expertise and forward-thinking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new chemical processes, including PFDs and P&IDs.
• Optimize existing processes for increased yield, efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling using specialized software.
• Perform risk assessments and HAZOP studies to ensure operational safety.
• Oversee the implementation and commissioning of new process equipment.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics, and mass transfer.
• Experience with project management and cross-functional team collaboration.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
