Join us in transforming Child and Adolescent Mental Health across Cornwall

We are looking for an innovative and experienced practitioner to provide community-based mental health support as part of a joined-up neighbourhood approach to care.

The CYP Practitioner is a newly created post that will work as part of the Truro Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT), sitting at the heart of a three-post child and young people mental health model developed in partnership with CAMHS, and local voluntary and community sector organisations.

This role takes a whole-family approach, recognising that a child’s wellbeing is closely connected to the wellbeing of their parent or carer. The role focuses on understanding and addressing the needs of both the child and the parent, recognising that children’s emotional and mental health difficulties can often be linked to unresolved trauma experienced by parents or carers. By working with the whole family, the role helps create safer, more stable relationships and improves outcomes for children and families.

The post holder will work primarily with children and young people presenting with mental health difficulties but will also consider parental needs drawing from models and frameworks of social inequalities and community psychology, for example The Power Threat Meaning Framework.

The ability and interest in developing and delivery of place based early intervention in partnership with primary care, and the voluntary sector is key for this role.

An Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) brings together primary care, social care, the NHS, and voluntary and community organisations to work collaboratively in support of local people. By combining expertise and resources, the team is collectively responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of the community through holistic, person-centered care that is flexible, joined up, proactive and preventative.

Truro INT has a shared ambition to innovate and develop a sustainable model of care for the future. Working in partnership across organisations and with local communities, the team focuses on understanding the needs of the neighbourhood, building strong relationships, and communicating in ways that inspire action. Through reflection, collaboration and a focus on what matters most to residents, Truro INT is helping to improve health and care outcomes across the city.

Person specification

Education and Training

• Current professional registration – NMC, HCPC, AHP, SW, BABCP, BPS
• Professional qualification – RN (Mental Health) / OT / Social Worker / Clinical Associate in Psychology
• Post Qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health or evidence-based intervention.
• Evidence of professional updating

Experience

• Experience of working within a mental health setting
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency setting
• Experience of working with children and adolescents with complex mental health needs in a child focussed multi-agency setting.

Employer certification / accreditation badges

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
