Senior Civil Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their growing team in Sunderland . This role involves contributing to the design and development of a wide range of civil engineering projects, from initial concept through to construction. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and technicians, applying your technical expertise to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed design work for civil engineering schemes, including drainage, highways, and earthworks.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design intent.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced members of the design team.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Substantial experience in civil engineering design, ideally within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D , AutoCAD, and relevant drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
• Good understanding of UK planning regulations and construction best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Working towards or holding professional qualification such as EngTech, IEng, or CEng.
