Senior Civil Engineer - Coastal and Maritime Projects

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in coastal and maritime engineering to join their team in Plymouth . This role will involve the design and management of challenging projects such as port infrastructure, coastal defences, and marine structures. You will be responsible for leading project teams, undertaking complex hydraulic and structural analysis, and ensuring the successful delivery of technically demanding schemes. This is a unique opportunity for a specialist engineer to contribute to significant projects in a coastal city with a rich maritime heritage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of maritime structures, including quay walls, breakwaters, and jetties.
• Undertake hydraulic modelling for coastal processes, wave loads, and flood risk assessment.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Manage project delivery, including cost control, programming, and resource allocation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with relevant maritime codes, standards, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in Coastal or Maritime Engineering.
• Extensive experience in the design of coastal and maritime infrastructure.
• Proficiency in relevant design software and hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., DHI Mike Suite, Delft3D).
• Strong understanding of naval architecture principles, wave mechanics, and sediment transport.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
