Location: North-West Bristol, close to M4/M5 junction (3 days/week in the office, with the rest worked from home)

Start: May 2025 onwards

An exciting opportunity exists for Civil Engineers specialising in the design and analysis of large concrete structures (and ideally some steel structures experience) as well as knowledge of relevant Eurocodes, to work in support of EDF's Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station construction project.

The position will be based in north-west Bristol, close to the M4/M5 junction (BS32 4TR). This is a hybrid role requiring someone to work 3 days/week in the office, with the rest worked from home.

Whilst previous nuclear industry experience would be useful, this is not essential - prior experience in the design and analysis of other large structures (in particular regulated industry (e.g. oil and gas, power station, petrochemical, chemical) experience) would be acceptable.

Main Activities

1. Producing technical specific documents such as handover reports or hypothesis notes
2. Responsibility of raising, following up of technical open points
3. Supporting the civil building lead for the resolution of transverse/complex technical open points and contract engineering lead in coordination with L3 civil designer and other stakeholders for producing the design
4. Supporting the contract engineering lead for the preparation of progress reports for the Client Project Manager and alerts of any technical risks to program and supporting the contract engineering lead for reviewing technical proposals for variations

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

1. Good concrete and/or steel structures design and analysis experience
2. Engineering design office experience, particularly in the design of large structures
3. Experience in detailed design
4. Prior nuclear industry experience would be advantageous, though experience gained in other industries, particularly regulated heavy industries, would be acceptable.
