Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation & Highways

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to focus on transportation and highways projects within their well-established office in Glasgow . This role is essential for delivering high-quality infrastructure that enhances connectivity and mobility across Scotland. You will lead the technical aspects of highway design, traffic management solutions, and public realm enhancements, working within a supportive and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of highway schemes, including junction improvements, road alignments, and drainage systems.
• Undertake traffic modelling, analysis, and the development of traffic management plans.
• Prepare technical specifications, contract documents, and tender submissions for highway projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national standards, DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges), and other legislative requirements.
• Conduct site visits and feasibility studies to inform design decisions and assess existing infrastructure.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, overseeing their technical contributions to projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
• A minimum of 7 years' experience in the design and delivery of transportation and highways projects.
• In-depth knowledge of DMRB, MCHW (Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works), and other relevant highway design standards.
• Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and traffic modelling software (e.g., VISSIM, TRISSIM).
• Strong project management skills and experience in client liaison and stakeholder engagement.
