Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation Planning

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join their transportation planning team in Bristol . This role focuses on the strategic planning, analysis, and development of transport infrastructure to meet future demands. You will play a key role in shaping policy, undertaking feasibility studies, and developing business cases for major transport projects across the South West region. This is a challenging and rewarding position for an engineer with a strong understanding of transportation systems and excellent analytical skills, contributing to sustainable and efficient transport solutions within a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of transport strategies, masterplans, and policy recommendations for local authorities and private clients.
• Conduct comprehensive transport assessments, traffic modeling, and demand forecasting studies.
• Develop business cases and funding applications for proposed transport infrastructure projects.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, local authorities, developers, and the public, to gather input and disseminate information.
• Manage project teams, budgets, and timelines for planning and appraisal projects.
• Provide expert advice on sustainable transport modes, traffic management, and network optimization.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in transportation planning, policy development, or infrastructure appraisal.
• Proficiency in transport modeling software (e.g., PTV Vissim, SATURN, CUBE) and GIS tools.
• Strong understanding of UK transport policy, planning legislation, and funding mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
• Experience in managing projects and leading technical teams.
