Senior Civil Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Water Resources to join their team in Nottingham . This role is focused on the planning, design, and implementation of projects related to water management, flood defense, drainage systems, and river engineering. You will play a key part in ensuring sustainable water solutions and protecting communities from water-related risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent project management capabilities, and a passion for environmental engineering, contributing to vital infrastructure development within the East Midlands and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of water resource management projects, including flood alleviation schemes and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
• Perform hydraulic modeling, flood risk assessments, and water quality analysis.
• Prepare detailed design reports, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
• Manage project teams, budgets, and timelines for water-related infrastructure projects.
• Liaise with clients, environmental agencies, local authorities, and construction contractors.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, water management policies, and health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in water resources engineering, with a focus on flood risk management and drainage design.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks) and GIS tools .
• Strong understanding of UK water legislation, environmental impact assessment, and sustainable drainage principles.
• Effective project management and communication skills.
