About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our Commercial team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. Managing a high-profile grocery retail customer, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth, delivering commercial objectives, developing strategic customer relationships, and leading Joint Business Plans across multiple product categories.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused FMCG professional with experience managing major retail accounts and delivering sustainable sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Full P&L responsibility for a key retail account or portfolio of accounts.
• Develop and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs) to achieve sales and profit targets.
• Build and strengthen relationships with key customer stakeholders.
• Deliver sustainable sales growth and margin improvement.
• Manage forecasting, risks and opportunities to ensure accurate business planning.
• Analyse promotional performance and recommend actions to maximise return on investment.
• Work closely with Marketing, Category and Innovation teams to deliver customer plans and activation programmes.
• Identify opportunities across new routes to market, including convenience and online channels.
• Champion customer needs throughout the business.
• Support new product launches and innovation programmes.
• Lead, coach and develop colleagues across the wider commercial team.
• Drive continuous improvement and best practice across commercial processes.

Essential

What We’re Looking For

• Significant experience managing major retail accounts within FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Experience working with at least one major UK grocery retailer.
• Proven track record of delivering profitable growth and commercial success.
• Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing customer P&L performance.
• Excellent analytical, forecasting and commercial planning skills.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or developing team members.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Own label and/or branded product experience.
• Experience within a leading FMCG or food business.
• Understanding of category management.
• Knowledge of NPD and product development processes.
• Previous people management experience.
• Degree qualified.

• 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover).
