An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering one of Bristol's largest and most exciting commercial redevelopment projects. Our client has secured a £74m city centre refurbishment and office fit‑out scheme, transforming an existing office complex into a high‑quality, sustainable workplace. This is a flagship project that will require a commercially astute leader to oversee all commercial activities from pre‑construction through to final account.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will lead the commercial function on this high‑profile development, ensuring robust financial management, effective procurement and strong contractual control throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with the project delivery team, playing a key role in maximising project performance while maintaining excellent relationships with the client, supply chain and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of a major commercial refurbishment project.
- Oversee project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow.
- Manage procurement strategy and subcontractor packages.
- Administer contracts and manage commercial risk.
- Lead the valuation, variation and final account processes.
- Mentor and support the commercial team on the project.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise project performance.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.
About You
We're looking for an experienced commercial professional with a proven track record of delivering high‑value commercial construction projects.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Manager or Managing Quantity Surveyor on major projects.
- Strong background in refurbishment, retrofit, cut & carve or commercial office developments.
- Experience working for a Tier One or leading regional main contractor.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and commercial management skills.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
