About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Computational Biologist to join their innovative research team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the UK and contribute to cutting-edge biological research. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data, to drive discoveries in disease understanding and therapeutic development. This role requires a deep understanding of biological systems and advanced computational skills to extract actionable insights. You will collaborate with a diverse team of biologists, data scientists, and clinicians, playing a key role in shaping research strategies and translating data into biological knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement computational strategies for analyzing large-scale biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
- Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify patterns, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
- Integrate diverse biological data types to gain a holistic understanding of complex biological systems.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists to design studies, interpret results, and formulate hypotheses.
- Visualize complex biological data and communicate findings effectively to multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to the development of bioinformatics tools and pipelines to support research efforts.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in computational biology research, with a focus on data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant scientific libraries.
- Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques applicable to biological data.
- Familiarity with biological databases and ontologies (e.g., Gene Ontology, KEGG).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex computational concepts clearly.
