Senior Computational Biologist

About the Role

Our client is expanding its innovative research team and seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to contribute to their cutting-edge genomics and systems biology initiatives in Manchester . In this role, you will leverage your expertise in bioinformatics and data science to analyze large-scale biological datasets, uncover novel biological insights, and drive the discovery of new therapeutic targets. You will collaborate closely with experimental biologists, bioinformaticians, and data scientists to interpret complex omics data, develop predictive models, and guide research strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and apply advanced computational and statistical methods to analyze high-throughput biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Design and implement bioinformatics pipelines for data processing, quality control, and feature extraction.
• Interpret complex biological findings and translate them into actionable hypotheses for experimental validation.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to integrate computational predictions with experimental results.
• Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to identify potential drug targets and biomarkers.
• Contribute to scientific publications and present research findings at internal and external forums.

Requirements

• PhD in Computational Biology , Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in analyzing large-scale biological datasets.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries and tools.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex computational concepts to non-experts.
