About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Computational Biologist to join their dynamic, remote-first Scientific Research & Development team. This pivotal role focuses on leveraging advanced computational approaches to unravel complex biological questions, drive drug discovery, and improve therapeutic strategies. You will work with large-scale omics datasets, develop sophisticated analytical pipelines, and collaborate closely with bench scientists and clinicians globally. This position is ideal for an individual passionate about making significant contributions to human health through innovative data science and a strong command of biological principles, all within a fully remote working setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable computational pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.).
- Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify patterns, biomarkers, and potential therapeutic targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into biological hypotheses and experimental designs.
- Manage and integrate diverse biological datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and accessibility.
- Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and grant applications.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in computational biology and data science.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in computational biology research, preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R) and familiarity with relevant libraries (e.g., Biopython, SciPy, scikit-learn).
- Solid experience with bioinformatics databases, sequence alignment tools, and statistical analysis methods.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex computational concepts to non-experts.
