About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their pioneering research team in Manchester . This role is critical for dissecting complex biological systems and translating large-scale datasets into actionable insights that drive therapeutic development. You will employ sophisticated computational and statistical methods to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data, working closely with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret high-throughput biological data, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) and single-cell technologies.
- Develop and implement computational pipelines and statistical models for biological data analysis.
- Collaborate with experimental teams to design studies and interpret results, providing computational support.
- Identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets through in-depth data exploration and hypothesis generation.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and relevant biological fields.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in analyzing complex biological datasets.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and genomics/transcriptomics data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex computational concepts to non-experts.
