About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their innovative research team remotely, with occasional site visits to their Sunderland facility. This role is critical for interpreting large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, to drive biological insights and drug discovery efforts. You will develop and apply advanced computational methods, build predictive models, and collaborate closely with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement computational pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
- Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify biological patterns and generate hypotheses.
- Collaborate with experimental teams to integrate computational findings with biological knowledge.
- Develop and maintain robust code and documentation for computational workflows.
- Present complex findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in analyzing biological datasets using programming languages like Python or R.
- Proven expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and biological data mining techniques.
- Experience with relevant bioinformatics tools, databases, and algorithms.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team setting.
