About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Computational Chemist to join their innovative research team in Norwich . This role is integral to leveraging computational methodologies to accelerate the design and discovery of novel chemical entities for therapeutic applications. You will be responsible for developing and applying advanced computational models, analyzing large chemical datasets, and collaborating closely with medicinal chemists and biologists. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply computational chemistry techniques, including molecular modeling, docking, and QSAR, to guide drug design.
- Design and synthesize virtual libraries and screen compounds computationally for desired properties.
- Analyze and interpret large chemical and biological datasets to identify structure-activity relationships (SAR) and structure-property relationships (SPR).
- Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists to optimize lead compounds and provide strategic direction for synthetic efforts.
- Contribute to the development and validation of predictive models for compound activity, toxicity, and pharmacokinetics.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in computational chemistry and cheminformatics.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in computational chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Proficiency in computational chemistry software packages (e.g., Schrodinger, MOE, Discovery Studio) and molecular visualization tools.
- Strong programming skills in Python or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with database management and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in a hybrid research setting in Norwich .
