About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Computational Chemist to join their advanced R&D team in Nottingham . This role is essential for applying computational methods to accelerate the discovery and design of novel molecules with potential pharmaceutical applications. You will work closely with medicinal chemists and biologists, leveraging sophisticated modeling and simulation techniques to guide project strategy and optimize compound properties. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced computational chemist to make significant contributions to drug discovery programs in a collaborative and innovative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform molecular modeling, simulations, and structure-based drug design to identify and optimize lead compounds.
- Develop and apply computational methods for predicting compound properties, including ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, Toxicity).
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists to design focused libraries and virtual screening campaigns.
- Analyze and interpret complex computational data, providing clear insights and recommendations to research teams.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of computational chemistry tools and workflows.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in computational chemistry and related fields.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry , Chemistry, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in computational chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proficiency in molecular modeling software (e.g., Schrödinger Suite, MOE, OpenEye).
- Strong understanding of quantum mechanics, molecular mechanics, and statistical mechanics.
- Experience with cheminformatics tools and databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively.
