About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Chemist to join their cutting-edge R&D department in Southampton . You will utilize advanced computational techniques to design and optimize novel chemical compounds for various applications, contributing significantly to the discovery pipeline. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute molecular modeling studies, including molecular dynamics, DFT calculations, and quantum mechanics.
- Develop and apply computational methods for predicting chemical properties, reactivity, and biological interactions.
- Collaborate closely with synthetic chemists and biologists to guide compound design and synthesis strategies.
- Analyze and interpret complex computational data, providing clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of new computational tools and workflows to enhance research efficiency.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in computational chemistry.
- Proficiency with computational chemistry software packages such as Gaussian , AMBER , Schrödinger , or OpenEye .
- Strong programming skills in languages like Python and experience with scripting for automation.
- Excellent understanding of quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and organic chemistry principles.
