About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team in Reading , specialising in renewable energy applications. This role is integral to designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated control systems for wind farms, solar arrays, and energy storage solutions. You will be at the forefront of optimising the performance, reliability, and safety of these renewable assets through cutting-edge automation and control strategies. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, and SCADA systems, coupled with a passion for advancing sustainable energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement PLC and SCADA systems for renewable energy assets (wind, solar, battery storage).
- Configure and program industrial control systems, including HMI development and troubleshooting.
- Develop and optimise algorithms for performance monitoring, fault detection, and predictive maintenance.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and project managers to integrate control systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for control systems.
- Provide technical support and training to site operations and maintenance teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in control systems engineering , with a significant focus on renewable energy or industrial automation.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., IEC 61131-3 standards) and SCADA system configuration.
- Experience with communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, DNP3) and data acquisition.
- Strong understanding of power electronics and energy storage technologies is highly desirable.
