Senior Control Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team, operating remotely with occasional travel to project sites. This role is vital for designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated control systems for the Oil & Gas industry, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of process operations. You will work on a variety of projects, from conceptual design through to commissioning and support, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to leverage their expertise in a flexible, remote working environment while contributing to significant industry projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for process plants.
• Configure, test, and commission control strategies, HMI screens, and alarm management systems.
• Develop and maintain control system documentation, including logic diagrams, cause & effect charts, and operating manuals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues, providing remote support to operations teams.
• Collaborate with process engineers, instrument engineers, and project managers to ensure integrated system solutions.
• Stay abreast of new control technologies and automation trends relevant to the Oil & Gas sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in control systems engineering , with a strong focus on the Oil & Gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
• Experience with industrial networking, cybersecurity principles, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Proven ability to manage projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adapted for remote collaboration.
