Senior Controls Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to lead the development and implementation of sophisticated control systems for automated processes and machinery in Southampton . This role is pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and performance across our client's diverse manufacturing and industrial applications. You will leverage your deep expertise in automation, PLC programming, and system integration to drive innovation and deliver robust, scalable control solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission advanced PLC , SCADA , and HMI systems for industrial automation.
• Develop and implement robust control strategies to optimize process performance and efficiency.
• Lead the integration of various control components, sensors, actuators, and robotics.
• Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for existing and new control systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and operations teams to define system requirements and solutions.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies in automation and implement best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial controls engineering and automation.
• Extensive experience with major PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Proficiency in HMI/SCADA software development and system integration.
• Strong understanding of industrial networks, robotics, and motion control.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
