About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This role is central to the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated control systems for automated production processes. You will lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in automation technology to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in control systems architecture, programming, and integration, coupled with strong leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design, program, and commission complex PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing automation.
Develop and maintain robust control system architectures, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Lead the integration of new automation technologies, including robotics and advanced sensors.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the controls engineering team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define control system requirements and ensure seamless integration.
Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems to improve performance and reduce downtime.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
7+ years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
Expert proficiency in PLC programming platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000).
Experience with HMI/SCADA software and industrial networking protocols.
Strong understanding of automation safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
