Job Description
Overview A leading global design, engineering and project management organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join its growing Cost Management team within a regional Project Controls practice. Working across major energy and infrastructure programmes, the role combines hands-on cost management with project leadership, client engagement, team development and business growth. The Role & Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Cost Management services across complex energy and infrastructure projects and programmes.
- Monitor, analyse, forecast and control project costs against agreed budgets and targets.
- Develop and maintain Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Apply appropriate methods of measurement, including RMM, NRM or equivalent standards.
- Develop and interpret project performance using Earned Value Management (EVM) and other performance techniques.
- Use and support Cost Management systems and tools including Power BI, PRISM, Oracle, Deltek and EcoSys.
- Work closely with planning, scheduling, risk, engineering and wider Project Controls teams.
- Identify efficiencies and challenge project and engineering teams to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Take responsibility, with minimal supervision, for successful delivery of projects and portfolios.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to project teams and stakeholders.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients, colleagues and industry partners.
- Support key account management, client development and business development activities.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships and develop new business.
- Lead and chair project and client meetings where required.
- Maintain strong commercial, contractual, quality assurance and technical standards.
- Support the continued development of the organisation's Cost Management strategy and capability.
- Contribute to technical excellence, innovation, benchmarking and digital transformation.
- Manage, mentor and develop Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers.
- Promote knowledge sharing, professional development and a positive team culture. Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, commercial management or a related discipline.
- Strong experience working on major energy and/or infrastructure projects and programmes.
- Proven experience delivering projects within a consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of project cost monitoring, forecasting, analysis and control.
- Experience with CBS, WBS, EVM and recognised methods of measurement.
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract including NEC, FIDIC and/or IChemE.
- Strong commercial and financial understanding of the construction and infrastructure sectors.
- Experience managing or supervising teams and developing junior professionals.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and client-facing skills.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, construction, commercial, finance or a related discipline; professional membership/chartership such as RICS, ICE, AACE, CaSA or equivalent is preferred
