Senior Credit Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Credit Analyst to join their established lending institution in Derby . This position is integral to assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and managing the associated risks. You will play a key role in analyzing financial statements, conducting due diligence, and making informed recommendations on credit applications. This is a vital role for maintaining the quality of the loan portfolio and supporting sound lending practices within the organization, working closely with relationship managers and senior credit officers.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other financial data to assess borrower credit risk.
• Prepare detailed credit memorandums and recommendations for loan approval or denial.
• Monitor existing loan portfolios, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate actions.
• Ensure compliance with the company's credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct industry and market research to support credit assessments.
• Mentor junior analysts and assist in training new team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial lending, or a related financial role.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and ratio analysis.
• Knowledge of credit risk principles and lending practices.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial databases or credit scoring systems.
