About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join their team, supporting their operations from a remote capacity with occasional visits to Plymouth . This role involves designing, implementing, and managing advanced security systems to protect the organization from sophisticated cyber threats. You will be instrumental in developing robust security architectures, automating security processes, and leading incident response efforts. This is a key position for a seasoned cybersecurity professional seeking to apply their expertise in a challenging and impactful role, driving security innovation and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level cyber security solutions , including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM.
- Develop and implement automation scripts for security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Lead the investigation and remediation of complex security incidents and threats.
- Conduct security architecture reviews and provide recommendations for system hardening.
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure and development teams to embed security into the SDLC.
- Stay current with emerging threats and vulnerabilities, recommending proactive defence strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cyber security engineering or a similar technical security role.
- Proficiency in security technologies and tools, with expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with incident response, threat hunting, and forensics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
