About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain their advanced big data platforms in Nottingham . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the availability and integrity of data for analytics and machine learning initiatives. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines using big data technologies.
- Optimize data warehousing solutions and database performance for large datasets.
- Develop data models and structures to support business intelligence and machine learning applications.
- Implement data quality checks and ensure data governance standards are met.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide efficient data solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on big data technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or Scala .
- Hands-on experience with big data frameworks such as Spark , Hadoop, Hive, or Kafka.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Data Lake, Google BigQuery) is highly desirable.
