About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join their expanding data team in Plymouth . This role is central to building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing robust data pipelines and data warehouses, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT).
- Develop and manage data warehousing solutions and data lakes to support analytical needs.
- Optimize data processes for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide necessary data structures.
- Implement data quality checks and ensure data integrity across all systems.
- Work with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark and Hadoop.
- Monitor data systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure data availability.
- Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Proven experience designing and building complex data pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with various database technologies (relational and NoSQL).
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Scala.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
