Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their analytics division in Leeds . This role is central to building and optimizing the data pipelines and infrastructure that power our organization's data-driven decision-making. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and reliable data systems, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and performance. Working in a hybrid model, you'll collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using technologies like Spark, Kafka, and Airflow.
• Develop and manage data warehouses and data lakes on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Synapse).
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all data systems.
• Optimize data query performance and data infrastructure for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and provide reliable data solutions.
• Implement data governance policies and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related role.
• Strong programming skills in Python or Scala, with experience in SQL.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Experience building and managing data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) including services like Redshift, S3, or Databricks.
• Proficiency in data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
