About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join their fully remote data team. This role is central to building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, constructing, installing, testing, and maintaining robust data management systems and pipelines. Working in a collaborative, remote-first environment, you'll have the opportunity to work with large-scale datasets and cutting-edge technologies, contributing significantly to data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Develop and manage data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Optimize data infrastructure for performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to understand data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Implement data governance and security best practices.
- Automate data processes and monitor data systems for issues and performance bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Scala for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT tools, and data modeling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
