Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Data Engineer to join their analytics team in Portsmouth . You will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines and infrastructure that support our business intelligence and data science initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure data availability, quality, and accessibility, playing a key role in unlocking the value of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize robust ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing.
• Build and maintain scalable data warehouses and data lakes using cloud-based technologies.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across all data systems.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide solutions.
• Implement data governance and security best practices.
• Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Stay current with emerging data technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with database design and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Synapse).
• Experience with ETL tools and programming languages like Python.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
