About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their expanding data platform team in Glasgow . This role is critical for building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support analytics and business intelligence across the organization. You will work with cutting-edge technologies to ingest, transform, and store large volumes of data, ensuring its quality, availability, and accessibility for data scientists and analysts. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and availability.
- Implement and manage data warehousing solutions and data lake architectures.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and provide solutions.
- Ensure data security, governance, and compliance across all data systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a similar role.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or similar.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their associated data services.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and database technologies.
